Bettye J. Johnson, 92, of Falls City, NE, passed away January 24, 2016 at Falls City. She was born February 13, 1923 at Howe, NE to the late LeRoy and Lena (Weick) Rumbaugh.
On December 21, 1940 she married Harold Johnson. He passed away September 25, 1992.
Bettye moved from the Howe area to the Falls City area and later to Barada with her parents where she attended Barada School. When married the couple established their home in Beatrice, NE and moved to Lincoln in 1964, to Ankeny, IA in 1967 and to Falls City in 1981 and she has lived here since. She worked at J. C. Penny’s in Iowa Falls, IA from 1956 until 1961; Wilke Baking Company in Lincoln from 1964 until 1968 as a sales lady and at Colonial Baking Company in Des Moines, IA from 1972 until 1981. She was a member of First Christian Church at Falls City.
Bettye is survived by her sister, LaVerne Yoesel of Falls City and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Maxine Sailors.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
