Carolyn "Cookie" Strasil

Carolyn “Cookie” Strasil, 73, of Falls City passed away on January 13, 2017. She was born on December 16, 1943 at Fort Lauderdale, FL to the late Weldon and Ortella (Franklin) Cook.

Cookie married Harry Strasil Jr. on March 12, 2005 at Falls City. He later passed away on February 18, 2016.

Cookie was raised in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Ruskin High School in 1961, she then attended college and earned an Associate’s Degree in Medical Records. She lived in Kansas City until 2005 when she married Harry then the couple established their home in Falls City. She lived here the remainder of her life. She has donated her body to the Nebraska Anatomical Board.

Cookie is survived by daughters, Carrie Simpson of Overland Park, KS; Stephanie Otis and her husband Jeff of Independence, MO; step-daughters, Melissa Morgan and her husband Sam of Falls City, NE; June Tilton and her husband Aaron of Converse, TX; Dee Blankenship and her husband Adam of Great Bend, KS; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A memorial service will be held January 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Falls City, NE with Pastor John Hogue officiating. There will also be a Memorial Service held at Stephanie’s house in Independence, MO on January 28, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Falls City.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to the Richardson County Humane Society.
