James Schuetz

James L. Schuetz, 79, of Verdon, NE, passed away May 30, 2017 at Falls City, NE. He was born March 28, 1938 at Verdon to Lawrence and Mildred (Meinzer) Schuetz.

He served in the Nebraska National Guard with Company B of Falls City, NE.

On June 18, 1968 he married Shirley Frederick at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Falls City. She passed away November 6, 1999. He then married Shirley Tillman Jorn on August 1, 2003 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at Verdon.

James was raised in the rural Verdon area and graduated Verdon High School in 1955 and then graduated Business College at Omaha two years later. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad at Omaha until returning to the Barada area in 1963 to farm. He farmed and raised livestock and also did construction work with Krumme Construction. Later in life he worked for White Cloud Casino and continued to farm. He particularly liked raising hogs and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Falls City Elks Lodge #963.

James is survived by his wife, Shirley of Verdon, son, Sean and his wife Sandy of Salem, NE, step-children, Carol Strecker and her husband Richard, David Jorn and his friend Kathy Lippold, Gary Jorn all of Verdon, brother, Gene of Falls City, granddaughters, Lizzie and Jessica Schuetz both of Salem, nine step-granchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, brother, Larry, and a step-daughter, Shari Jorn.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Brian Voos officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
