John Coonce, 73, of Rulo, NE, passed away November 15, 2015 at Lincoln, NE. He was born June 8, 1942 at Rulo, NE to the late Noah and Mary (Steinauer) Coonce.
On November 6, 1964 he married Edna Davolt at Hiawatha, KS.
John was raised at Rulo and attended school at Rulo until the eighth grade. He graduated Reserve High School in 1961. Following graduation he became employed at Falls City Creamery and then worked at Frontier Homes. He also helped farmers around the Rulo area. He became employed by the City of Falls City and worked at the water treatment plant retiring in 1999 as the manager.
He was Mayor of Rulo for many years and also served as a volunteer Fire Chief and Rulo Cemetery caretaker for many years. He was an avid deer hunter and bingo player.
John is survived by his wife, Edna of Rulo, sons, Jimmy and his wife Melissa of Rulo, Johnny and his wife Cathy of Falls City, brother, William of Rulo, sisters, Mary Lou Hill of Falls City, Inez Foster and her husband Kenneth of Dallas, TX, Mary Helen Croxton of Powhattan, KS, grandchildren, Kraig, Jami, Bailey, Taylor and Jesse Coonce.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor David Showalter officiating. Interment will be in Rulo Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
