Malcolm G Berry

Malcolm G. Berry, 72, of Verdon, NE passed away September 25, 2016 at Lincoln, NE. He was born on December 27, 1943 at Exeter, New Hampshire to the late John and Ellen (Murphy) Berry. 

He served in the United States Navy from February 11, 1964 until July 31, 1989.  He was awarded the SEA Service Deployment Ribbon with Bronze Star, Overseas Service Ribbon with Bronze Star, 5th Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Recruiting Gold Wreath Award with 3 Silver Stars. 

He married Dora Lee Geesa on March 17th 1980 at San Diego, California.

Malcolm was raised in Kittery Maine and graduated from Traip Academy.  He then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for 24 years until retiring in 1989. Following his retirement he worked for Brinks Armored Cars.  He then moved to Verdon and was employed at Peru State College as a Campus Security Guard until his retirement.  He was a member of VFW Tecumseh and attended Prairie Union Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dora of Verdon, son, Patrick Jackson and daughter Shannon Gorring, both of Pennsylvania, step-daughters, Concordia June Metteal of South Carolina, Brenda Jones of Michigan, brother, John Sandy Berry and his wife, Beverly of Alabama, sister, Darlene Marshall of Tampa, Florida, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He is preceded by his parents, brother, Francis Murphy Berry and great-grandson, Brayden Luker.

Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation.
