Nelda Norene Borrego

Nelda Norene Borrego, 68, of Shubert, NE, passed away March 24, 2017 at Shubert. She was born February 14, 1949 at Shubert to the late Ralph and Eleanor (Conover) Shafer.

On June 5, 1971 she married Tomas R. Borrego at Nebraska City, NE

Nelda was raised at Shubert and attended Shubert School. She worked at the Shubert Café and then moved to Nebraska City and worked for Ocoma Foods and then worked at the sewing factor in Auburn, she worked for Excel at Phelps City, MO until it closed and then returned to the sewing factory and worked there until it closed. She then attended Vatterott College at Omaha and earned an associate’s degree in accounting in 1999. She then became employed at Sun Mart in Auburn and then Cargill at Nebraska City until she retired in 2012. She was a member of Church of Christ at Falls City.

Nelda is survived by her husband, Thomas of Shubert, daughter, Lynette Surman and her husband Will of Shubert, son, Ralph Borrego and his wife Angela of Moore, OK, step-children, Thomas David Borrego of Lincoln, NE, Corina Borrego of Indiana, brother,Terry Shafer and his wife Wanda of Pawnee City, NE, sister, Gwen Duitsman and her husband Larry of Beatrice, NE, fourteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rowena Littrell and a grandson, Cody Ramer.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Josh Maxwell officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
