Shirley Jorn

Shirley Jorn, 81, passed away May 13, 2015 at Syracuse, NE. She was born on May 27 1933 near Vesta, Nebraska on a farm to Ed and Dora Jaros. At the age of three the family moved to Burchard, Nebraska to a different farm. Later the family sold everything and moved to California living there for a short time before returning to Nebraska. Shirley's parents made Beatrice their home, this is where Shirley attended school. Later the family moved to a farm near Falls City, later receiving her GED.

Shirley married Charles Jorn on March 1, 1950. They farmed and had four children. The family moved to Verdon where Shirley helped her husband Charles Jorn with his trucking business and other jobs as well as at the Richardson County Coop. After Charles Jorn retired from the Coop, they started a craft shop. Shirley enjoyed success with painting crafts and pictures. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at Verdon.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Douglas and his wife Charlene of Louisville, NE, Rick and his wife Joanie of Kearney, MO, daughters, Cheryle Castle and her husband Pat of Papillion, NE, Cindy DeLong of Nebraska City, NE, a brother, Dallas of Falls City, fourteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchidren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a great-grandson, Ethan Bazata.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in Verdon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12-2:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
