Dale  E.  Bauer, Sr.
d. 1/20/2006

Dale E. Bauer, Sr., 86, of Falls City, NE, died January 20, 2006 at Falls City. He was born August 2, 1919 at Falls City to the late Edward L. and Ida (Zentner) Bauer.

 

On November 20, 1938 he married Marjorie G. Prater at Hiawatha, KS. She died November 25, 1999.

 

Dale enlisted in the U. S. Army on November 27, 1944 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He served in France and Germany. He was honorably discharged on February 17, 1946 at Ft. Leavenworth.

 

Dale graduated from Falls City High School in 1938. He and his father started the Bauer Implement business at 1615 Chase St. in 1940. They sold J. I. Case farm machinery, livestock feeds and hybrid seed corn. They remained in business until 1961 when Dale and his family moved to Council Bluffs, IA where he was employed by Case Company. He worked there until the company left Omaha in 1972. They then returned to Falls City in 1974 and he was employed by Seid Implement Company. He retired from there in 1984. In 1991 he took part time employment at Hinky Dinky, the name of the store changed to Sun Mart and he retired from there in February 2005. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #102 and Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard, all of Falls City.

 

Dale is survived by his sons, Ronald Bauer and wife Sandra of Lincoln, NE, Dale E. Bauer, Jr. and wife Charlene of Fremont, NE, daughters, Sharon Walgreen and husband Robert of Omaha, NE, Sue Moran of Council Bluffs, IA, daughter-in-law, Mid Bauer of Falls City, brother, Robert and wife Marceline of Topeka, KS, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Gary, Grandson Gail Bauer and sister, Mildred Bauer.

 

Funeral services will be held January 25, 2006 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Aaron Pingel officiating. Interment will be St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery north of Falls City. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
