Frances A. Apel, 88, of Hiawatha, KS (formerly of Falls City, NE) died March 31, 2006 at Hiawatha. She was born August 10, 1917 at Preston, NE to the late Samuel J. and Alma L. (Brecheisen) Oberst.
On December 12, 1934 she married Orville H. “Shorty” Apel at FallsCity. He passed away on November 3, 2002.
The couple established their home northeast of FallsCity when married. They lived there until 1997 when they moved into FallsCity. She moved to Hiawatha in October of 2004. She was a homemaker all her life. She was a member of FirstChurch of the Nazarene at FallsCity.
Frances is survived by her son, Larry and wife Carolyn of Lincoln, NE, daughters, Barbara Apel of Sun City, FL, Shirley Wenger and husband Kenneth of Hiawatha, sister, Evelyn Wise of FallsCity, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Samuel J. Oberst, Jr. and a grandson, Kevin Apel.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 5, 2006 11:00 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Weinert officiating. Interment will be in SteeleCemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home one hour prior to service time.
