Florence I. Abbott, 93, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 19, 2007 at FallsCity. She was born October 23, 1913 near Fairview, KS to the late Charles and Edna Mae (Sewell) Dalsem.
She married William Hinton and they were later divorced. On August 7, 1949 she married Elsworth L. Abbott at Hiawatha, KS.
Florence moved to Hiawatha with her family when she was 8 years old, she attended schools in Hiawatha & graduated from the HiawathaHigh School in 193l.When she married Mr. Abbott the family made their home in Atchison, KS until 1960 when Mr. Abbott was transferred by the railroad to Kansas City, MO.In 1962 they moved to Chicago, IL due to his employment and lived there until he retired in 1988 when they returned to FallsCity, and have lived here since. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Falls City; the Past Matron’s Club at Falls City & the Order of the Eastern Star at Humboldt, NE.
Florence is survived by her husband, Elsworth L. Abbott of Falls City, NE, son,William Hinton of Atchison, KS, step-daughter, Shirley Diaz of Falls City, NE, sisters, Nila Yingling of Hiawatha, KS, Mabel Cooper of Kansas City, MO, twenty grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, son, Marvin Hinton, daughter, Charlene Fahmeyer, step-daughter, Judy Niemeyer; brother, William Van Dalsem; sisters, Mary Kern, Norma Cashman and Ona Van Dalsem, a granddaughter and great-great-granddaughter.
The body of Mrs. Abbott has been cremated and a memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 10:30 AM at First Christian Church with Reverend Dr. Richard P. Don and Reverend Steven Wainwright officiating. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
