Dorothy  L.  Darveau

Dorothy L. Darveau, 91, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Falls City, NE, passed away May 18, 2007 at Olathe, KS. She was born March 1, 1916 at Missouri City, MO to the late Phillip D. and Margaret (Cook) Hutchings.

 

She married James W. Hilt in October of 1936 at DeWitt, MO and they were later divorced. On November 30, 1956 she married John D. “Jack” Darveau at Raton, NM. He passed away July 6, 2001.

 

Dorothy was raised in various places and graduated from Rulo High School at Rulo, NE. She lived at Falls City for forty-seven years before moving to Olathe in 2003. She was an Avon Representative for over thirty years. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters.

 

Dorothy is survived by sons, Lt. Cmdr. USN (Ret.) James R. Hilt and wife Rita of Jacksonville, FL, Rev. Mr. Francis P. Hilt and wife Carol of Omaha, NE, daughter, Mary Kaye Hilt of Olathe, KS, step-children, Carole Wagoner and husband Dennis of St. Joseph, MO, CPO USN (Ret.) John D. “Jack” Darveau, Jr. of Falls City, Larry Darveau and wife Joyce of Hilton Head, SC, Steven Darveau and wife Mary of Falls City,

Daughter-in-law, Mary E. Hilt of Pittsburg, KS, brothers, Phillip Hutchings and wife Nadine of Brunswick, Mo, James Wright and wife Karen of Mound, City, KS, sisters, Nina K. Hensiek of Kansas City, MO, Betty Straub and husband Vince of Marceline, MO, twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack, son, Dr. Robert P. Hilt, step-son, Roger L. Darveau, brothers, G. B. and Amos Wright.

 

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert A. Roh as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

 

A Catholic Daughters rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

 

A parish rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial be made to Sacred Heart Endowment Fund.
