Gary E. Barber, 68, of Rulo, NE, passed away July 17, 2007 at Lincoln, NE. He was born September 5, 1938 at Reserve, KS to the late Herbert V. and Dorothy P. (Duncan) Barber.
On February 4, 1961 he married Janet Shubert at Reserve Christian Church at Reserve.
Gary served in the Kansas National Guard at Hiawatha, KS for several years.
Gary was raised in the Reserve, KS area and graduated from the ReserveHigh School in 1958.The couple established home in Kansas City, MO when married and he was a truck driver from 1961 until 1967 when they returned to Reserve.He worked for Frontier Homes in FallsCity until he went to work for the Burlington Railroad in 1974, retiring in 1999 due to a disability.They moved to Rulo in 1982 and have lived there since; they owned & operated the Bridge Café in Rulo.
Gary is survived by his wife Janet of Rulo, sons, Kim of Reserve, Kevin of Rulo, daughters, Tammie Fee and husband William and Tonya Barber and companion Tony Fee both of White Cloud, KS, brother, Gerald and wife Loretta of Rulo, sisters, Ramona Frederick of Omaha, NE, Colleen Nickerson and husband Gerald of Centerville, TX, Beverly Frederick and husband Harvey of Rulo, Sally Campbell and husband Leon of Falls City, Nancy Manzer and husband Ed of Omaha, Marsha Taylor and husband Frank of California, eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend William G. Shipman officiating. Interment will be in SteeleCemetery. Military graveside honors by Nebraska Military Honor Guard and Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
