Ava M. Albert, 87, of Platte City, MO, formerly of Falls City, NE, passed away March 5, 2008 at North Kansas City, MO. She was born April 23, 1920 north of Shubert, NE in NemahaCounty to the late Orrie and Lola Mae (Adams) Messler.
On May 28, 1941 she married Arnold G. Albert at Los Angeles, CA. He passed away October 6, 1995.
Ava was raised in the Shubert area and graduated from the ShubertHigh School in 1937. The couple moved to Los Angeles when married and she attended GeorgeWashingtonCommunity College for one year and lived there for four years; they lived in Merrimac, WI from 1945-1948.In 1951 they built a home in Ogden, IA; in 1952 they moved to Clifton, KS and in 1958 they bought a farm near Hiawatha, KS; in 1972 they moved to FallsCity and she lived here until moving to PlatteCity in 2002, so she could be close to her daughter and family. She had sold Avon while living in Hiawatha and received many company awards. She attended the FirstUnitedMethodistChurch; was a member of the Clay Center Chapter #l80 OES of Clay Center, KS and the KK Social Club in Hiawatha, KS.
Ava is survived by her daughter, Elaine Ann Gower and husband Tim of Kansas City, MO, brother, Jack Messler of Postville, IA, grandson, Lonny Gower and wife Michelle of Platte City, great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Gower of Platte City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Eldon and Arlin Messler.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Marvin Neubauer officiating. Interment will be in SteeleCemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
