Helen R. Thomas, 91, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 8, 2010 at FallsCity. She was born December 1, 1918 at Shubert, NE to the late Herbert and Vera (Ward) McDowell.
On February 11, 1947 she married Neal F. Thomas at FallsCity. He passed away January 2, 2001.
Helen graduated from high school at Grand Island, NE; she lived in RichardsonCounty all of her married life.She was
Assistant Manager at Hinky-Dinky grocery store and also worked at the Vogue Ready-To-Wear in FallsCity. She was a member of St. Paul’s EvangelicalLutheranChurch, 20th & Towle, FallsCity and a member of the WELCA of her Church and also taught Sunday School.
Helen is survived by twin daughters, Elaine Schawang and her husband Kenneth of Falls City, Karen Gappmayer and her husband Thomas of Geogetown, TX, brothers, Merland McDowell and his wife Margaret of Omaha, NE, Marlyn Uri and his wife Nancy of Rolla, Mo, brother-in-law, Gilbert Thomas and his wife Kathryn of Falls City, grandchildren, Korey Schawang and his wife Alysia of Falls City, Glenn Schawang of Lincoln, Michael Miller and his wife Krista of Lincoln, Kiley Maddux and her husband Bill of Omaha, great-grandchildren, step and foster grand children and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s EvangelicalLutheranChurch, 20th and Towle St., with Pastor Linda Daniels-Block officiating. Interment will be in SteeleCemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
