Walter C. Vogt, 85, of FallsCity, passed away February 28, 2010 at FallsCity. He was born March 12, 1924 at Naper, NE to the late John and Emma Marie (Luschen) Vogt.
Walter enlisted in the U. S. Army on June 15, 1945 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He earned a Victory Medal and a German Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1947 at Sheridan, IL.
On June 8, 1949 he married Donna Goolsby at St. Peter’s LutheranChurch, northeast of FallsCity.
Walter was raised in BoydCounty and moved to FallsCity at the age of 12 and attended District 1 school. When married the couple established their home in FallsCity. He worked as a foreman building bridges and other commercial construction. He retired in 1985.
Walter is survived by his wife, Donna of Falls City, sons, John and his wife Debbie of Eureka, KS, B. J. of Concord, CA, Jerry and his wife Nancy of Lincoln, NE, daughter, Nancy Vogt of Falls City, sisters, Carolyn Casteel of Omaha, NE, Luellyn Kinney and her husband Bill of Mound City, MO, Velda Hughes of Omaha, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Louis and Arthur, sisters, Hilda, Frieda, Anne and Dorothea.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Weinert officiating. Interment will be in RuloCemetery at Rulo, NE. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
