Bea Whitten

Bea Whitten, 92, of Omaha, NE, passed away August 4, 2018 at Omaha. She was born October 3, 1925 at Western, NE to William and Constante (McCune) Herndon.

She married Duaine P. Whitten on October 6, 1950 at Omaha, NE. He passed away December 6, 2002.

Bea was raised in the Western area, later moving to Hebron and graduation Hebron High School in 1942. She moved to Omaha in 1945 and the couple established their home there when married. She worked for Brandeis, Fairmont Foods and Omaha Public Schools as a secretary for fifteen years, retiring in 1985 and moving to Murdock, NE in 1986. She has lived in Omaha since 2004.

Bea is survived by her sons, Edward and his wife Ana of Wilmington, OH, Bob and his wife Maria of Aurora, CO, daughter, Ruth Whitten of Omaha, brothers, William Herndon of Crete, NE, Reuben Herndon and his wife Susan of Hemet, CA, Robert Herndon and his wife Nancy of Ft. Wayne, IN, sister, Joan Tippery and her husband Glen of Decatur, NE and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Ruth, Merriam, Virginia Magner, Jane Taylor, Alberta Stauber, Anna Loyd, Esther Burklund.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
