Caroline M. Gerdes, 81, of Falls City, NE, passed away March 27, 2017 at Falls City. She was born September 9, 1935 at Barada, NE to the late Walter and Emma Marie (Scholl) Strecker.
On May 4, 1957 she married Richard Gerdes and they divorced in 1988.
Caroline was raised in Richardson County and attended Barada School. When married the couple established their home in rural Falls City and moved into Falls City in 1967. She was employed at Sacred Heart School cafeteria, Middle School cafeteria, Falls City Creamery, Falls City Hospital and cleaned houses. She was a volunteer for the Latch Key Program in Falls City. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Falls City.
Caroline is survived by her sons, Kevin and his wife Stephanie of Falls City, Michael and his wife Patricia of Weeping Water, NE, daughter, Cathy Hall and her husband Tom of Falls City, sisters, Berniece Hartzell of Norwalk, CA, Elaine Griebel of Falls City. Eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond Strecker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Thomas Dunavan as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.
A Parish Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 6:30 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the rosary.
