Donald W. Yoesel, 84, of Stella, NE, passed away January 12, 2015 at Auburn, NE. He was born April 3, 1930 at Rulo, NE to the late Walter and Edna (Helfenbein) Yoesel.
Don enlisted in the U. S. Army on October 25, 1951 at Omaha, NE. He served in Korea and earned the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, ROK Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 28, 1953 at Camp Carson, CO.
On July 24, 1955 he married Gale Shineflew at Stella.
Don was raised in the Shubert, NE area and graduated from Shubert High School in 1948. Following his discharge he returned to Stella and when married the couple lived in various places until settling in Stella in 1964 where he managed the Stella Elevator for 33 years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of Stella Community Church, VFW and Harvey Mann American Legion Post both of Shubert.
Don is survived by his wife, Gale of Stella, daughters, Deanna Lewis of Wichita, KS, Darla Yoesel of Lincoln, NE, brother Alvin of Seminole, OK, sister, Glenita Thomson and her husband Harold of Wichita, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Donald, Jr., brothers, Gilbert and Harlan.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Stella Community Church with Pastor Kyle Paustian and Wayne Shafer officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Shubert American Legion.
Open visitation will begin on Monday afternoon.
