Ilene Kimes

Ilene Kimes, 90, of Lincoln, NE (formerly of Dawson, NE), passed away August 7, 2018 at Lincoln. She was born April 20, 1928 on a farm near Salem, NE to Fred and Roseanna (Hogue) Harring. 

She married Gordon Kimes on April 21, 1946 at Humboldt, NE. He passed away April 5, 2013.

Ilene was raised in the Salem-Verdon area and graduated Dawson High School in 1945. She went on to become a nurse with Dr. Heim in Humboldt. She was employed at the Humboldt Hospital and Colonial Acres in Humboldt, Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn and did in-home nursing care for 10 years. She also managed the lunch program for the Dawson-Verdon Schools for a period of time and then was a dental assistant for Dr. Tracey. Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, flower gardening and she had a passion for cooking and baking all her life. She was a member of the Christian Church at Humboldt.

Ilene is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife Candy of Hickman, NE, daughter, Beverly Kelsay of Lincoln, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, sister, Colene Hance and her husband Bill of Lincoln, brother, Walt Harring and his wife Barb of Lincoln, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother, Violet Harring, brother, Harlan Harring and Marvin Harring.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Christian Church at Humboldt with Reverend Howard Blecha officiating. Interment will be in Heim Cemetery.

Open viewing and visitation will begin Sunday afternoon.
