John O'Grady

John O’Grady, 67, of Falls City, NE, passed away December 6, 2019 at Falls City. He was born December 10, 1951 at Falls City to Leon and Phyllis (Darveau) O’Grady.

He married Cathy McKim on May 26, 1973 at Rulo, NE.

John served in the Nebraska National Guard, Company B for 6 years at Falls City. 

John was raised in rural Falls City, attended rural grade school and started Sacred Heart High School as a freshman, graduating in 1970. Following graduation he went to basic training and when he returned he started farming with his father. When married the couple made their home northeast of Falls City. John also worked part-time laying carpet for Cheney Furniture and was also the custodian and maintenance man at Sacred Heart High School. He retired from farming due to his health. He was a kind and gentle man who you wouldn’t want to be behind if you were in a hurry while driving. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

John is survived by his wife, Cathy of Falls City, children, Matt and his wife Brenna of Omaha, Nate of Falls City, Katie O’Grady and her partner Kiley Boynton of Desert Springs, CA, Megan O’Grady of Falls City, brother, Michael and his wife Mary Kay of Panora, IA, sisters, Ann Shafer of Falls City, Mary Jo Stuve and her husband Jeff of Albuquerque, NM, grandchildren, Bryant Jorn, Sloane O’Grady, Nolan O’Grady, Brooks O’Grady, Oakley O’Grady and Cayden Raney. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Aaron O’Grady.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Stoley officiating. Inurnment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

A Parish Rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with family receiving friends following the rosary.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to Sacred Heart School or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
