Sheila Kirkendall Obituary

Sheila Kay Yoder Kirkendall, 83, of Falls City, NE, passed away June 19, 2019 at Falls City. She was born November 18, 1935 at Falls City to Francis and Gladys (Arnold) Yoder. She graduated from Falls City High School in 1954.

She married Donald J. Kirkendall on June 24, 1956 at Falls City, and they lived on a farm east of Falls City. The couple had two children. He passed away April 4, 2001.

Sheila worked at Edde Motors after graduation from Falls City High School in 1954 until 1958 when she became a fulltime housewife and mother for fourteen years. She later went to work at Richardson County Bank and Trust as a bookkeeper and teller until 1994.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th and Towle St.) where she served on the church council, was a Sunday school teacher, and an active member of Deborah Circle. She was a member of Does Drove #56 of Falls City where she held many offices throughout the years. She loved to play bridge and up to the time of her death was playing cards with three different groups. She loved sports and either watched it on television or was at a grandson’s, great-grandson’s or neighbor’s game every time they played.

Sheila is survived by her son, Doug and his wife Linda of Falls City, daughter, Debbie Ebel and her husband David of Verdon, grandsons, Tim and his wife Molly, Kyle and his wife Heather both of Falls City, great-grandsons, Reid and Chase. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara Rich and her husband Tom of Reno, NV, sisters-in-law, Janet and Rhonda Kirkendall, brothers-in-law, Marlin Peck and Larry Kirkendall, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and father and mother-in-law, James and Lois Kirkendall.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

Open visitation and viewing will begin on Sunday afternoon.
