Clet Wessel

Clet Wessel, 66, of Salem, NE, passed away July 31, 2020 at Salem. He was born February 19, 1954 at Goff, KS to Henry and Gertrude (Akin) Wessel.

He married Mary Jane Buessing on February 17, 1973 at Baileyville, KS

Clet was raised in various places in Kansas and Missouri and attended Baileyville High School. He worked for the railroad, Stalder Cattle, Keim Trucking and farmed for Lonnie Goff for 34 years. When married the couple established their home in Seneca and moved to the Salem area in 1976 and has lived there since. He retired in 2018. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Clet is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of Salem, children, Ed and his wife Andrea of Crocker, MO, Michelle Wessel of Lincoln, NE, Melanie Rieger of Falls City, Janelle Wessel-Sterling and her husband David of Iola, KS, brother, Fred and his wife Linda of Lee’s Summit, MO, sisters, Anna Marie Segenhaggen and her husband Wayne of Wetmore, KS, Betty Vest and her husband Gleamon of Long Lane, MO, Florence Brown and her husband Bill of Louisburg, MO, Terri Sherman and her husband Bruce of Peru, NE, Rita Yunghans and her husband Jim of Axtell, KS, Emma Krogman of Havensville, KS, Julie Wessel of Meriden, KS and twelve grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Stoley officiating. Inurnment will be in Maple Cemetery.

A Parish Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home and also at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home on the same day.
