Doris Erickson Obituary

Doris Erickson, 71, of Falls City, NE, passed away August 19, 2020 at Blue Springs, MO. She was born March 7, 1949 at Waucoma, IA to Oliver and Vera (Miller) Winter.

She married Karl Erickson on May 29, 1971 at Richfield Lutheran Church in Iowa.

Doris was raised in rural Waucoma and graduated North Fayette High School in 1967. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from University of Omaha. She started her nursing career as an LPN in Highland Park, IL, then worked at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA and at Clark County Medical Center in Iowa. After moving to Falls City she worked at Sabetha Hospital and then at Falls City Hospital. She also taught many LPN classes and was education coordinator at Community Medical Center, and also worked for In Home Health. She taught many CPR and CNA classes. Even while she was sick she was teaching her caretakers. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, PEO and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

Doris is survived by her husband, Karl of Falls City, sons, Brett and his wife Lisa of Gas, KS, Casey and his fiancé Haylee Olberding of Falls City, Anders and his wife Jessica of Falls City, brothers, Roger Winter and his wife Karen and Kevin and his wife Tammy both of Waucoma, sister, Joyce Grover and her husband Jed of North Pole, AK, brother-in-law, Jon Harrison of Maynard, IA and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wanda Harrison.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Young Je Kim officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery. It has been requested for attendees to wear masks and seating will be limited to promote social distancing. People may listen to the service near the church on 88.7 FM.

Open visitation and viewing will begin on Sunday from noon until 7PM and on Monday from 9AM until 8PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

The family prefers memorials be made to Richardson County Cancer Fund.
