Dr. Robert Burghart

Dr. Robert L. Burghart, 87, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 21, 2021 at Falls City. He was born May 8, 1933 at Spearville, KS to Albert and Barbara (Hefner) Burghart.

He married Mary Ann Lowry on December 29, 1959 at Waterloo, IA, she passed away June 17, 2000. He then married Joyce Dallriva on November 28, 2003 at Falls City.

Robert enlisted in the U. S. Air Force on in June 1, 1960 and served until being honorably discharged on July 21, 1972.

Robert was raised on a farm at Spearville and graduated in 1951 from Spearville High School. He then attended St. Mary’s of the Plains College for two years and then enrolled in Kansas University. He was a 1960 graduate of Creighton Medical School in Omaha. He practiced medicine for a year in Falls City before enlisting in the Air Force, serving two years in England at Bentwaters R. A. F. Following his discharged he returned to Falls City continued his practice until his retirement in 1998. He was an avid sportsman and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Falls City Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and the VFW.

Robert is survived by his wife, Joyce of Falls City, children, Robert Jr. of Santa Barbara, CA, D. Brian of Mexico, Jennifer Lunsford of San Francisco, CA, step-children, Trena Rogge and her husband Phil of Fairbury, NE, Cindy Bangert and her husband John of Falls City, Mark O’Banion and his wife Lorra of Elkhorn, NE, Lisa Bartek and her husband Tom of Falls City, brothers, Frances of Houston, TX, Vernon of Ellersburg, WA, Richard and his wife Annette of McPhearson, KS, sisters, Milli Ruder of Bakersfield, CA, Jovita Christianson of Salina, KS, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, brothers, Harold and Fr. Leonard Burghart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Stoley as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

A Parish Rosary will be recited 1 hour before service time at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
