Gary Mez

Gary Leon Mez, 72, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 30, 2022 at Lincoln, NE. He was born December 18, 1949 at Falls City to Harold and Iona (Messinger) Mez.

He married Brenda Schlicker at Falls City and they were later divorced. He then married Debra Davis at Falls City and they later divorced.

Gary was drafted into the U. S. Army and attended boot camp in California. He was honorably discharged and later served with the Nebraska Army National Guard, Company B of Falls City.

Gary was raised in Falls City and graduated Falls City high School in 1967. After his discharge he returned to Falls City and worked for Frontier Homes, Joy’s Drilling and Machine Ship, WASP, Casino White Cloud and Southeast Consolidated School prior to his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, visiting with his neighbors and caring for his beloved dogs Teddy and Lucas.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Lisa Dougherty and her husband Mike of Falls City, grandchildren, Blake, Mackenzie, Madison and Mya Dougherty, Jacob and Allysa Mez, niece, Angie Phroper of Falls City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Iona, son, Kevin Mez, sister, Judy Feighner and a special friend Ruby Wardlow.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Steele Cemetery with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
