Janice Moore Obituary

Janice Moore, 87, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 14, 2020 at Falls City. She was born February 18, 1932 near Watson, MO to Walter and Glennie (Moger) Whetsel.

She married Robert L. Moore on August 28, 1955 at First Christian Church, Falls City. He passed away October 13, 1996. To this union three children were born, Steven, Douglas and Cheryl.

Janice attended Star School grades 1-8 North of Craig, Missouri at High Point School. She was baptized at Big Lake, Missouri in Big Lake. She graduated from Craig High School, Craig, Missouri in 1949, moving to Falls City, Nebraska in 1951 and began work at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Hospital. She took L.P.N. training, taught by Maxine Kielsmirer and passed her state boards in 1956. She worked at the hospital for 54 years before retiring at the age of 70 and 1/2 years in 2002. She was a charter member of the Nazarene Church at Craig, MO and attended the First Christian Church in Falls City.

Janice is survived by her sons, Steven and his wife Jodi of St. Joseph, MO, Douglas of Wisconsin, sisters-in-law, JoEtta Shaw and Pat Moore, brother-in-law, Meryl Wenger, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Cheryl at age 5 in 1967, brother, Donald Whetsel and wife Verlene and two sisters Mary Snider Whetsel and husband James and Cleo Monroe Whetsel and husband Les, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Catherine and Raymond Moore, brothers-in law, Donald Shaw and Corky Moore, and sister-in-law Retta Wenger.          

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 10:30 AM at First Christian Church with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at First Christian Church

Viewing and open visitation will begin Monday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Richardson County Humane Society.
