John was born November 15, 1946 in Falls City, Ne to Betty Johanson Lock and John Lock. He grew up in Hiawatha, Kansas and attended Hamlin schools. In 1958 , John’s mom married Willis Pape and John was adopted by Willis. He was in the Kansas National Guards from 1964-1966. He met Jan Peden on November 29. 1965 and they were married on May 29, 1966 in Falls City Ne at the Nazarene church. They moved various times and he spent his time working on the farm. His son Chad was born in 1967 and Cory was born in 1970. They eventually moved to Wallace, Ne. In 1989, they moved back to Falls City, and he continued to work for various farmers.
He took great pride in his boys following in his footsteps in the farming industry. He doted on his 3 grandchildren, Macy, Joey and Chaz. He loved to fish, woodworking and gardening.
He was proceeded in death by parents Willis and Betty Pape, brother Terry Pape, biological father John Lock.
John is survived by his wife Jan. Sons, Chad (Lisa) Pape of Eagle, NE and Cory (Kari) Pape of Murdock Ne. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Macy, Joe and Chaz Pape and 4 step-grandchildren Morgan Taylor, Brianna Kuenning, Colten Remm and Caden Remm.
Sister Karen Lehmkuhl and Brother Marvin Pape, many nieces and nephews, many lifelong friends.
