Judith "Judy" Mellage

Judith “Judy” Mellage, 72, of Falls City, NE, passed away November 24, 2018 at Falls City. She was born December 25, 1945 at Waverly, MO to Roger and Maxine (Shumaker) West, Sr. 

She married Dennis Mellage on November 17, 1962 at Reserve, KS

Judy was raised at Falls City and attended Falls City High School. When married the couple established their home in Falls City. In 1977 she began employment with H & R Block at Falls City and then became manager of the Hiawatha location. She then took employment with Merz & Morehead CPA and continued on with Bob Aitken when he purchased the business, retiring in 2016. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th & Towle), BPO DOES and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Judy is survived by her husband, Dennis of Falls City, children, Brenda Fisher and her husband Wendell of Kansas City, Mo, Chris and his wife Barb of Falls City, Cherie Derr and her husband Curtis of Lincolnton, NC, mother, Maxine Gross of Falls City, brother, Roger West, Jr. and his wife Laritta of Falls City, sister, Carol Frederick of Blair, NE, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, sister, Glenda Gibbs, brothers-in-law, Harry Gibbs, Robert Frederick and Sam Thomas, nephew, Mark Frederick and step-father, Everett Gross,

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (20th & Towle) with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
