June Scheitel Obituary

June A. Scheitel, 92, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 12, 2022 at Falls City. She was born June 10, 1930 at Falls City to William and Emma (Spainhower) Allen.

She married Donald Scheitel on September 18, 1949 at Zion Union Church of Christ. He passed away April 12, 2009.

June graduated from Falls City High School in 1948. She worked as a checker and bookkeeper at Mix Master Grocery from 1942 until 1948. After graduation she moved to Omaha to work for the Union Pacific Railroad until the birth of Kent in 1952. She then worked for Sun Newspaper in Omaha as a bookkeeper and proof reader from 1953 until 1956 when Debra was born. The couple moved to Portland in 1960 when her husband transferred with the Union Pacific Railroad, they moved back to Omaha in 1970 and back to Oregon in 1975. She retired in 1984. The coupled wintered in Arizona from 1986 until 1999 and moved to Falls City in 2000. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.

June is survived by her children, Kent Scheitel of Portland, OR, Debra Whitman and her husband Rod of Omaha, grandchildren, Douglas and William Whitman and Ashley Scheitel, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Wayne and W. H. “Bill” Allen and a sister, R. Maxine Lewis.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery. 

The family has requested masks be worn at the funeral.

Open visitation and viewing will begin Saturday afternoon until 5:00 PM and Sunday from noon until 5:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
