Karey Speers

Karey Speers, 63, of Kansas City, MO, passed away January 28, 2023 at Kansas City. She was born December 11, 1959 at Falls City, NE to Jerry and Wanda (Casey) Crofford.

She married Keith Speers on September 28, 1991 at Falls City.

Karey was raised at Falls City and graduated Sacred Heart High School in 1978. Following graduation she worked for Weaver, Beekman and Merz and then began a 36 year long career working for the State of Nebraska as a secretary for the Probation Officer in Richardson County. She retired in 2019 and then moved to Kansas City where she worked as a nanny until 2021 when her health began to fail. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, PCCW, Home & School Boosters at Sacred Heart and Gamma Theta Sorority. She also started the Kinderchurch program at her church.

Karey is survived by her husband, Keith of Kansas City, daughter, Gabrielle Speers of Kansas City, father, Jerry Crofford of Falls City, brothers, Robert and William Crofford of Falls City, numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Hoesing as the presiding priest. Inurnment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

A Parish Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 P. M. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
