Kay Ernst

Kay Ernst, 74, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 29, 2020 at St. Joseph, MO. She was born December 20, 1945 at Omaha, NE to Lynn and Margaret (Ohrt) Schroeder.

She married Eugene Ernst on January 3, 1970 at Omaha, NE.

Kay was raised at Omaha and graduated from Benson High School in 1964. She then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She worked for Clarkson Hospital and then for an insurance company in Omaha. When married the couple established their home on a farm northeast of Falls City, becoming a farm wife and homemaker. The couple moved into Falls City in 2002. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and also was a youth group leader and taught Sunday School. She gave the gift of life by donating her organs and tissues.

Kay is survived by her husband, Eugene of Falls City, sons, David and his wife Susan of Elmwood, NE, Doug of Falls City, brother, Steve Schroeder and his wife Lisa of Minneapolis, MN, sister, Linda O’Bryan and her husband Frank of Denver, CO, grandchildren, Hayden, Claire and Ashton Ernst. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Young Je Kim officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
