Larry Whalen Obituary

Larry Whalen, 84, of Falls City, NE, passed away December 1, 2020 at Falls City. He was born April 30, 1936 at Falls City to Lawrence and Burley (Harness) Whalen.

Larry enlisted in the U. S. Army on October 24, 1956 Ft. Lewis, WA. He served in Korea and earned a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1958.

Larry was raised at Rulo and attended Rulo Public Schools, following his honorable discharge he worked for Mickelberry Hams at Falls City, starting as a truck driver and working his way up to Vice President of Sales. He retired from there in 1992 and purchased the Spirit Shop. After selling the Spirit Shop he worked alongside his son, Dennis, driving a truck and working construction. He was a member of Falls City Elks Lodge, American Legion, VFW, Falls City Honor Guard and White Cloud Honor Guard.

Larry is survived by his sons, Michael and his wife Cassey of Falls City, Rick and his wife Christi of Eagle, NE, Dennis of Weston, MO, brother, Tom and his wife Pat of Lubbock, TX, sister, Virginia Whalen of Rulo, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and six siblings.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Steele Cemetery with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard and White Cloud Honor Guard.

No viewing or visitation. Friends may sign the guest book during regular business hours at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
