Obituary

Phyllis Jean Eickhoff of Falls City passed away on August 2, 2020.  She was born October 26, 1937 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Lowell and  Louise (Fitzgerald) Kelly.   

She married Carl “Duane” Eickhoff on October 26, 1957 in Connersville, Indiana.   Duane passed away on November 22, 2010.  Phyllis was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (6 miles north) Falls City. 

Phyllis loved being a mother and grandmother and was always prepared to lend a helping hand.  She was a dedicated homemaker which included all the canning and preserving of the abundance of produce from her garden.   While her children were in school, she served as an officer of the South School PTA, Campfire Girls and the Falls City High School Band Parents.   Phyllis worked for Richardson County Bank & Trust Co., was a World Book Encyclopedia sales representative, worked for Dr. Krickbaum and Dr. Farmer and worked as a waitress for some of the local restaurants.  Phyllis was an excellent seamstress and quilting was her passion making all the children and grandchildren quilts and donating so many to the Sew ‘N Sews quilter group at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where they were sent to the Lutheran World Relief and the Orphan Grain Train organizations.   This past year Phyllis donated many quilts that she had made to the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney, NE.  She made countless crocheted and embroidered items.   Phyllis was also a member of various church organizations and the VFW Auxiliary in Falls City. 

Phyllis is survived by her children, Lowell Carl (Mary L.) Eickhoff of Falls City, Kelly Valeria Tatsch of Killeen, Texas and Estelle Jean Eickhoff of Hiawatha, Kansas, sister Ruthann Petro of Lincoln, 5 grandchildren Carla (Clint) Kage, Tecumseh and James Eickhoff, Falls City; Megan (David) Green, Enterprise, Alabama; Kate (Brandon) Cox, San Angelo, Texas and April Tatsch, Enterprise, Alabama and 6 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Duane Eickhoff, her parents, sister Carolyn Harris and brother Mike Kelly. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dorr & Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating. Burial at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, 6 miles north, immediately following the service.  

Open visitation and viewing will begin Tuesday afternoon at the Dorr & Clark Funeral Home in Falls City.

The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (6 miles north), Falls City or Brown County Developmental Services, Hiawatha, KS.
