Richard Harpenau

Richard Harpenau, 92, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away February 25, 2024 at Kansas City, KS. He was born January 26, 1932 at Falls City, NE to Louis and Magdalen (Bauman) Harpenau.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 24, 1952 at Omaha, NE and was honorably discharged on June 23, 1956 at Westover AFB, MA.

Richard was raised in Falls City and graduated from Falls City Sacred Heart in 1950 and then attended Peru State College for one year before enlisting in the Air Force. Following his discharge, he became employed at Bendix Corporation as a government inspector until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sorts of sporting events.

Rich is survived by his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mildred Kottich and brothers, Regis, Virgil and Larry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Jim Meysenburg officiating. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

A parish rosary will be recited on March 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
