Ruth Schwasinger

Ruth Ellen Vollmer Schwasinger, 86, passed away is Pittsboro, North Carolina on Friday, December 11, 2020. Ruth was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 16, 1934, the daughter of the late Irvin and Wilhelmina (Hellmann) Vollmer of Verdon, Nebraska.

As a Registered Dietician, she held various positions in the dietetic and nutrition field, including establishing a dietetic consulting business.  Ruth found pleasure and joy in her faith and her church.  For the past twenty-one years she lived with her sister, Kathryn, and shared a love of church, travel, cooking and attending concerts, plays and lectures.

Ruth is survived by her children, Natalie (Ben) Bakke and Brett (Renae) Schwasinger, her grandchildren, Benjamin (Julie) Bakke, Brittany Schwasinger, Bridger (Breann) Schwasinger and Kaylee Schwasinger; her sister, Kathryn Vollmer; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Ruth was held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Raleigh, North Carolina, January 9th, 2021.  A funeral service and inurnment will be  held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 1:30 P.M at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 6 miles north.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Stained Glass Window Fund, Concordia Seminary of St. Louis and Lutheran Indian Ministries.
