Ruth Woods

Ruth Woods, 96, of Falls City, NE, passed away June 11, 2023 at Falls City. She was born March 26, 1927 at Omaha, NE to Fremont and Blanche (Swihart) Wilson.

She married Philip Woods on January 6, 1949 at Hiawatha, KS. He passed away February 22, 2017.

Ruth was raised in Dunbar and moved to Willis, KS at 17 and graduated Willis High School in 1945. She then worked for Dr. Brown at Nebraska City, then moved to Topeka and worked for SBA Insurance and then Security Benefit Insurance. Following her husband’s return from service they moved to Tennessee then to Atchison, KS and in 1963 they moved to Falls City where she was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Ruth is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Eve of Hutchison, KS, Morris and his wife Joyce of Joaquin, TX, Timothy and his wife Susan of Overland Park, KS, Alan and his wife Sandi of Leavenworth, KS, Scott of Falls City, Tony and his wife Kelli of Smithville, MO, daughter, Donna Krohn and her husband Gary of Wheaton, KS, twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a great-granddaughter, husband and brothers, Neal and Robert Wilson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Inurnment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at First Christian Church.
