Mildred Rieschick

Mildred E. Rieschick, 90, of Falls City, NE, passed away August 30, 2015 at Falls City. She was born June 30, 1925 at Peru, NE to the late Elmer and Blanche (Markham) Gilliland.

On July 5, 1945 she married Melvin Rieschick at Hiawatha, KS

Mildred was raised at Peru and Falls City, graduating Falls City High School in 1943. Following graduation she taught school for two years before being married. When married the couple established their home on a farm northeast of Falls City and she was a farm wife and homemaker until earning a teaching certificate and then she began teaching in rural schools. In 1971 she earned her teaching degree from Peru State Teachers College and then taught at Sacred Heart and then Falls City Middle School where she retired in 1987. Following retirement she and Melvin did antiquing and traveling to shows buying and selling antiques with family accompanying them on many trips. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th & Towle), Falls City Does Drove and Business and Professional Women’s all of Falls City as well as a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and General Society of Mayflower Descendants.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Melvin of Falls City, daughter, Diana Vogt and her husband Carl of Camdenton, MO, son, David and his wife Sue of Lake Jackson, TX, daughter-in-law Patricia Rieschick of Falls City, sister, Barbara Asdell and her husband Ralph of Wildwood, MO, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Dennis, sister, Mary Lou Peltier and a granddaughter, Christina in infancy.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

Viewing will begin on Wednesday afternoon.
