Rick Dettmann, 54, of Falls City, NE, passed away August 4, 2015 at Union Township, PA. He was born November 21, 1960 at Humboldt, NE to the late Charles and Shirley (Dean) Dettmann.
On March 14, 1981 he married June Wilhelm at Falls City.
Rick was raised at Salem, NE and attended Salem schools and graduated from Dawson-Verdon High School in 1980. When married the couple established their home in rural Salem. He began working for Lynn Whitten during high school. Following graduation he worked for Jerry Wilhelm, then worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Peter Kiewit at Omaha, NE. He then worked for Donnie Stevens as a heavy equipment operator, then was a welder for MAC in Sabetha, then did bulldozing for Greg Fischer then worked for different pipeline companies. He was working for Price Gregory Pipeline at the time of his death. He was a member of Verdon Christian Church, Falls City Elks Lodge, Local Union 571, Falls City Volunteer Rural Fire Department and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Rick is survived by his wife, June of Falls City, children, Amanda Linstrom and her husband Sean of Columbus, NE, Greg Dettmann and his fiancé, Laci Boltz of Falls City, brothers, Tom and his wife Barb of Humboldt, Terry and his wife Dollie of Arnold, MO and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th & Towle) with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery at Salem.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
