LeRoy R. Auxier, 88, of Hamburg, IA (formerly of Dawson, NE), passed away February 8, 2015 at Hamburg, IA. He was born March 26, 1926 at Dawson, NE to the late Edward and Wilhelmina (Wilkinson) Auxier.
He enlisted in the U. S. Army on December 7, 1950 at Omaha, NE. He served during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged on December 6, 1952.
On May 25, 1951 he married Helen Wittwer. She passed away July 14, 2012.
LeRoy was raised on a farm at Rural Dawson and graduated Dawson High School in 1944 and began his farming career. Following his discharge he returned to the farm until retiring to Auburn in 1988. He was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church until it closed. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed his amateur radio activities. He gave his time for the Dawson School Board and 4-H activities.
LeRoy is survived by his daughters, Jan Sullivan and her husband Mike of Hamburg, IA, Elaine Cook and her husband Noel of Wall Lake, IA, Barb Sollner and her husband Steve of Manhattan, KS, sister, Betty Grossenbacher and her husband George of Sabetha, KS, grandchildren, Lukas Fritz and his wife Brenda of Verdon, NE, Liv Wheeler and her husband Michael of Hamburg, Justin Cook and his wife Val of Portlant, OR, Jessica Berry and her husband Pat of Omaha, McKinze Cook and her husband Sean Fredericks of Portland, OR, Ben Anderson and his wife Andria of Manhattan, great-grandchildren, Willa Fritz, Helaena Wheeler, Alex Berry and Dawson Wheeler, step-grandchildren, Aaron Sullivan and his wife Shelly of Webster City, IA, Christian Brenneman and husband Brian of Omaha, Luke Sollner, Cassie Schurr and her husband Spencer, Candice Tabacci and her husband Nick, Steve Sollner and his wife Bobbie, step-great-grandchildren, Jonah, Aidan, Kenna, Jordyn, Devin, Cecilia, Charlie, Cooper and Idella.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Osborne officiating. Interment will be in Heim Cemetery at Dawson. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
